Winter Wear Whoa's

These styles are bringing the "whoas" to Winter.

I hope you love these finds as much as I did. I definitely snagged some myself, and couldn't help but share these winners with all of you. I know that many of my plus size babes are searching for new additions to add in their closets this time of year. It can be difficult to find cute and trendy size inclusive clothes, let alone winter wear that doesn't just look like a garbage bag. Shop around (click on each picture and a new screen will pop up taking you directly to the website, please note I do make small commissions to keep creating content from these links) and then let me know what your favorite piece is, or how you would mix and match these!   - Xo, Court

First up is this GORGEOUS Rib Collar Sweater Dress from Eloquii - currently on their 40% off sale! I would personally pair this with their Faux Leather Strong Shoulder Coat, and these Lane At the Knee Boots (also part of the sale) in the snow leopard print, because why not add a fun print?! I also picked out these cute little gold Twisted Hoop Earrings as the perfect accent to this trendy and cozy winter vibes look.

ASOS is currently running an up to 80% off sale on final discounts. This is my favorite time to shop ASOS, so if you haven't checked them out, do yourself the favor and thank me later babe.

ASOS did not come to play with this COLLUSION Plus Swirl Jacquard Fitted Maxi Skirt hunnyyyy. I would pair it with this Threadbare Plus Etta Chunky Roll Neck Sweater and ASOS DESIGN Wide Fit Emerald High Heeled Sock Boots to slayyyy the winter blues away. If you really want to take it a step further, this Monki Beatrice Responsible Wool Beret should do it. Next stop, that little French cafe down the street.

This Romantic Red Knit Dress dress from Cider is everything I have ever dreamed of, and only $27. And do not even get me started on this Mid-Century Modern Love Sweater Coat from ModCloth. I think this Plus Heart Cardigan & Pants Lounge Set from NastyGal is so sweet for a little at home Valentine's Day at home, which is currently 75% off.

If you haven't checked out the current Old Navy sale for up to 75% off, you are missing out. I found this really pretty Marled Shaker-Stitch Turtleneck Sweater, this really lovely Long-Sleeve Rib-Knit Mini Sweater Dress, and this super on trend Long Bouclé Utility Shacket.

I don't know if I am the only one, but one of my favorite parts of winter fashion is the accessories! I, like many of us, are wicked on a budget this year, so I found some pretty inexpensive Amazon items that are totally adorable and perfect for including in your wardrobe this season.

This hat comes too many different colors to even count and ranges from $15-$20 depending on the shade.

This is a 5 pack of headbands!!! It is available in an array of color combos and is only $12.99.

Okay how cute are these? Taking any shirt or coat to the next level. They are available in black, white, and tan. $13.99-$14.99.

A leather glove is always a classy addition and will never go out of style. These come in multiple colors and so affordable.

Snagging a soft faux fur bag like this is a must. This AnnaKastle bag is on sale for $29.95 in every color.

This pearl choker necklace is a vibe! And on sale for $32.99.

Bachelor's Grove Cemetery

Things got a little spooky...

Welcome to my first piece in my Haunted Places series! I can't wait to take you along on my adventures of little pieces of history, paranormal, and abandoned beauty all around the world. For these first couple ones, I am cheating a bit and sharing my experiences from past travels, not in realtime (thanks pandemic). So with that, I had to start at one of my favorites, Bachelor's Grove Cemetery located in Midlothian, IL - a southwest suburb of Chicago. At the time I was living not too far from this location, and knew that I had go and experience it for myself after I had followed multiple blogs and paranormal community boards about others visiting and the experience they had. Me, someone whom for years was a skeptic, but had one moment that changed everything (which I will save for a later time and date), was now seeking opportunities like this.

Photo: Taken by me, Courtney Sharp. 2015.

I could go on about the day leading up to my first visit and how unnerving the experience was, taking the trail back to an area that seemed almost abandoned, my boyfriend at the time convincing me we shouldn't be doing this...but in theory, at first, once we arrived, it was simply breathtaking. I mean the way the light comes through the trees here is just stunning, it truly felt like an ethereal garden of peace and tranquility (at least to someone into dead stuff). This very first visit, I was met with the one of keepers of the area on his way out - who stayed and told me about the history and upkeep for a bit.

I learned that some of the burials go back as far as 1834, when German immigrant workers were killed while working on the canal. It is also been thought that the water way that runs right next to it, was a dumping ground for bodies in Chicago's organized crime (1920's-1930's), with nod to Al Capone. It seems that though there is only a handful of marked stones - there are plenty of spirits that could be present in the area.

He showed me the location that people often report seeing the "white lady", who many have said you can hear the cries of her baby she carries on full moons. As well as the spot from the famous photo in the Chicago-Sun Times of the woman apparition clearly sitting on the tombstone, which was not visible when the photograph was taken.  He kindly walked me over to the "infant daughter" headstone where people come and leave an array of things like stuffed animals, dolls, beaded bracelets, etc. It all felt very surreal - but little did I know that my day journey would be very different from my later dusk experience.

As I approached the trail that you take back towards the grounds, things felt different than earlier. It could be the way my boyfriend at the time was FREAKING out or my senses tingling - who knows. As we walked down with the sun setting there was a group of beautiful deer in the distance, which we took a quick snapchat video of. As we continued to walk down the path, we both got the sense we were being followed, but we were aware of our surroundings the entire time, nobody was there. This looming feeling never left the entire time.

The vibes of the location changed at night, it was no longer this beautiful space of light. There was an eeriness and pain that could almost be felt physically. I got some photos and videos, left something at the gravesite, and we left. When we got to the car I wanted to review our footage. First up was the snapchat of the deer - or so we thought. What was there was NOT what we filmed, instead there was this fuzzy static like movement and no sound. We were confused but not quite freaked out yet, blamed it on an array of possibilities. Then I went to my albums to see the other stuff, only to find everything we had taken was gone. Every picture, every video, gone. It was like we weren't even there. We sat in silence most of the way home because we both were trying to comprehend what exactly happened.

Then my phone got a notification, it was a snapchat friend request. They had sent a video. I opened it, it was a black screen and my boyfriend and I's conversation while we were walking down the pathway from earlier. Absolutely terrified, I blocked the account and decided we should take a different route home in case we were being followed. After, nothing happened. Never heard from anyone again. We didn't get followed home. Nothing. The pictures and video from our visit, still non existent. I don't know what to take from this experience. I think about it often. I always have wondered if maybe we did catch something on film and tapped into some energy source neither of us necessarily believed in at the time. I don't know.

But if I ever make my way back to the grove, know I intend to find out. If you have ever had experiences here, please share them with me. I would love to learn more about moments people have had.

And though this shared adventure was short and sweet, I intended to dive much deeper into this world I have explored and continue to do so. Share captured imagines, chilling stories, etc. But if there is anything you are specifically interested in me covering or a location request, by all means send them my way.

Until next time ghouls,

Self Care Tips: Make YOU a Priority

I feel like I am probably not the best person to be providing this kind of guidance as I am still trying to understand my own self care routine - but I feel like as I grow, I should pass on the same knowledge to help another. First and foremost, we collectively need to stop looking at self care like it is some kind of reward system. It is a vital part of having balance, self love, and better mental health. The moment you learn to understand that, is the moment you start realizing how important it is to make YOU a priority, and start making the change for yourself.

My next tip is simple - schedule out your self care! If you live a pretty busy life like myself and have a million things going on at once, this loop of never making time for yourself can happen - and there is no shame in having to pencil it in. My absolute favorite planner for this, you can find here:

It's best to always avoid people and things that make you unhappy. I can't say this enough, but the simplest act of self-care you can do is surrounding yourself with the right kind of people, learn to say no to things you don't want to do, and removing stressful situations out of your life (when possible).

And finally, it doesn't have to be a huge step to make a huge difference. Incorporating even the smallest moments for yourself into your daily routine can be the difference to a healthier and happier life. Below I have put together a list of some of my favorite self-care activities & must haves - feel free to pop these into your planner. Let's all starting putting ourselves first more!

Barista Babe with Coffee Over Cardio
  1. Brew yourself a cup of coffee/tea. Even if you only have 5 mins to spare, this is something that you can include in your day to day routine. You could make it apart of your morning. Wake up a bit earlier, make yourself a fresh mug of your favorite. Take these moments to stop and enjoy the little things - the smell, the sound of it brewing. Take the moments to enjoy. Looking for a new option? My favorite is 'Messy Bun' from Coffee Over Cardio. Which you can find on their website: Make sure to use my code 10CALLMECOURT for 10% off your order.
  2. Dance. I know it seems silly, but it's effective. Create a playlist to keep handy for whenever you need a little self-care dancing. Do it alone, with friends, with your partner - doesn't matter. Just enjoy the music and have some fun.
  3. Read A Book. A new one, an old one, doesn't matter - take an hour to read something that isn't a social post.
  4. Face Mask. Ah yes! The tried and true self-care staple, a face mask. You will thank you, and your skin will thank you. Win, win. My go-to is the Green Tea Blend Detox Mask, from Teami Blends (available at which you can find here:
  5. Watch a Funny Video. No seriously, I can't tell you how good I feel after taking 15 mins to watch a new Try Guys Video.
  6. Go For A Hike. I wish I scheduled more hikes into my calendar to be entirely honest. There is something so de-stressing about grabbing your pup and heading out into nature together. Just make sure to pack a snack and lots of water, for both you and pup (if you have one).
  7. Nap. I don't care who you are, everyone can enjoy a good nap. And often times our bodies and minds are screaming for it, and we don't even know until we try.
  8. Make A Charcuterie Board. Okay, so I realize this one is a bit far fetched and totally specific. But picture an aesthetically pleasing snack plate that allows you a bit of indulging, yes please.
  9. Binge Watch a Favorite Series. Is there a series you maybe haven't watched in a long time but absolutely adore? Here is your chance. This doesn't have to be something you incorporate all the time but every once in a while - it can be truly therapeutic. You could even make a tradition out of it. For example, I rewatch Gossip Girl every year around the same time. I know, seems silly, but it's something that brings me happiness.
  10. Learn A New Hobby. Okay hear me out, I know this can be stressful for some. So don't push this, if you are ones of those people. I however, very recently, stepped out of my comfort zone and picked up a new hobby. Candle Making, which is now part of a fragrance small business idea, I have had on the back burner for a while. So not only is this something I love doing and provides me happiness, but it's a way for me to bring in more income as well.

Now I know this may not be the soul searching tips you were hoping for - but sometimes it really is just THAT simple. However, I want to use this as an opportunity for you to request a deeper dive into a specific understanding of your choice as well. If there is anything you want me to write about please make sure to comment or contact me on any of my platforms.

Below you will find seven (I just like the number 7) of my must have beauty products (all linked and available at Ulta). From skincare to makeup, and even some hair stuff - these are my ride or dies. I hope that introducing you to some of my beauty besties, can open the door for you to find some love with them as well. We all need to incorporate more of those A1 since day one products, ya feel?

  1. The Ordinary. 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

When I say that a majority of my products are from The Ordinary. I say that with 100% honesty. In fact, this will not be the only product you find from them on this list. This product has truly changed my face for the better! I have only recently included it in my routine, and I can't even imagine my face prior, seriously. I use it as my serum step after toner at least 3-4 times a week. It has helped with aging spots, as well as returned moisture back into my skin. I like to also note that it is vegan & cruelty free. It does not contain alcohol, gluten, nuts, silicone, parabens, or sulfates. More simply put, you can feel at ease putting this on your skin. It is currently retailed on the site for only $9.80 USD which is a total steal for a product like this. I feel it has stepped up my skincare game, and I hope it can for you as well.

2. Gucci - Bloom Perfume

Though I do not have anymore of this at the moment because it comes with one heck of a price tag. I am telling you, if you like fresh floral scents, and they mix well with your body chemistry - this is SIGNATURE scent material. I haven't been able to find anything else remotely close to this. Though I mostly stick to VS body sprays 99% of the time (my daily grab), this is one I would say to bring out for date nights, special occasions, etc. If you adore smelling like spring 24/7 and your wallet can take it, this is your new bff. It does come with a price tag of $135 USD for the 3.3 oz bottle at Ulta. However, the retail price for the 1.0 oz ($76.00 USD) can often be found on sale in the daily deals they do for fragrances. It is definitely one to look out for, and worth every penny.

3. Juvia's Place - Serafina Blush

Let me just tell you about this blush real quick, OMG she is a freaking knockout. Juvia's Place is one of my favorite brands ever. It is Black Women-Owned and slaying every makeup game possible. I have never once been let down by any of their products, and in fact my favorite eye shadow palette I own is theirs as well. This blush is a gorgeous spring/summer tangerine meets coral shade, with a beautiful creamy texture and vibrant pigment. A little goes a longggggg way with this, I only need to dip my brush once for both cheeks to get the color payoff I am looking for. I honestly can't wait to bring this back out into my looks this coming season, I have missed it so. It retails normally for $8.00 USD but is currently on sale for $4.80 USD! Which is insane!

4. Mario Badescu - Silver Powder

Blackheads? We don't know them. If you have problems areas like I do, specifically nose/chin/t-zone, I would 100% recommend giving this product a try. However, please note that you need to follow the directions EXACTLY or things will get a bit messy. And even when you do, it still should be applied over a sink. You will have some fallout regardless, but it's so worth it. I do advise only using this on specific problem areas, never your whole face. But if you have stubborn black heads in your nose that just won't go away, I promise this stuff will kick them out faster than a cheating ex. I keep this baddie on deck for some bi-weekly self care time. It retails for $12.00 USD and available now:

5. Redken - Curvaceous Ringlet

I am having a bit of a beauty meltdown recently, as I am also out of this cutie. For anyone that has a natural curl that has been destroyed or lost over time from heat, color, products, natural elements, etc. - you know finding a good curl product that works for you is hard to come by. I pretty much stick to the same three (OUAI Curl Cream & as weird as it is - Johnson's Curl Defining Leave-In Conditioner for Kids) and this! This not only gives my hair the moisture it needs, but it has been helping redevelop the natural curls that have been missing. I only put a nickel size amount into wet hair, let it air dry, and I am good to go. If you haven't given this one a shot yet, I vouch for this product through and through. It retails for $21.00 USD.

6. The Ordinary. - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

And we are back with The Ordinary. for a non-greasy hydration option that I have routinely incorporated after oil or serum a couple times a week. I alternate this with another moisturizer option on days without makeup. I also use this prior to applying makeup as a replacement primer, which has been a staple since the day I discovered it. The way my skin feels now verses a couple months ago, is night and day difference. And I know I owe a part of that, to this brand & product right here. I no longer get dry patches around my nose like I used to and my skin is FINALLY starting to feel like one texture again. Maybe this is the fountain of youth? I don't know, but I am going to keep using it until I find out. It retails for $7.70 USD.

7. Holika Holika - Holi Pop Jelly Tint

I don't know about you, but I am jumping on the band wagon of K-beauty, and full out already in a committed relationship with some of it. I am obsessed that Ulta has started featuring this brand, so I am able to share it with all of you that much easier. I have the WORST time with lip products, seriously it doesn't matter what I do - I smear it, wipe it, something always seems to happen. But it doesn't stop me, because you know, I loveeee a bold lip. Now that I have found this tint in Cherry, Cherry, I am in love. Though this product must be carefully applied, as it is quite liquid-y, once its's on for the long haul. Eating, drinking, mask wearing, you name it, this is your new boo. And it retails for only $7.00 USD.

Alright babes, thats it for now. I hope that some of my must haves, will now become additions to your own ride or die products. Stay tuned for more must-haves, style guides, and product reviews on this category of my blog. If you want me to review or cover anything specific, as always, comment below so I can add it to the list. Have an amazing rest of your week.

The Adventure Challenge - Couples Edition Pt. 1

This picture is a PR provided photo as apart of an affiliation with
The Adventure Box.

You know, I always use to look at couples when I was younger and be like "yuck, boring, they just sit around and do the same things all the time." Little did I know, I would become someone just like that years later. Adventure still in our hearts, but not acted upon enough - oh and don't get me started on what this pandemic has brought to date nights for couples everywhere haha.

But one day, I stumbled upon The Adventure Challenge and it has been EXACTLY what I needed in my relationship. Each page is filled with fun scratch-off date adventures that range in price, time, location, etc. that invite a way to truly do something different with your partner. An opportunity to break up the mundane routines we often find ourselves in and awaken a more creative and enriching experience.

The items we got from The Adventure Challenge are:

  • Couples Camera Set
  • The Adventure Box Subscription
  • And currently on it's way - my Solo Edition

The Couples Camera Set came with the book itself, as well as the Lomo' Instant Camera and some nifty little tools, like color filters. (Film not included, but available on Amazon for super cheap.) The Adventure Box Subscription is AWESOME, each month they send you a box that corresponds with one of the dates in the book itself. They are noted, and the book reminds you to leave the ones unscratched that have a matching box until it arrives. As for the Solo Edition, more on that in a different post when I get it in the mail, it's going to be such a useful tool in my journey to self love and understanding...

We loved how each of the icons gave you a little sneak peak into what might be needed, where you would be doing the date, and how long approximately the activity is.

When our stuff arrived, including the 1st subscription box, we were ecstatic! We immediately decided on a day to do the date and promised each other we wouldn't peak before the date (it was so hard). The day arrived, and we ripped open the box, scratched off the date in the book that matched and immediately knew we were in for something different when we saw a mini hammer. Penny For Your Thoughts was our first challenge! And since this date had a corresponding Adventure Box, so we did not have to do the first part listed on the scratch-off, which was going to the store for supplies. They arrived in a cute package for us instead, which in a pandemic is such a win. And even better, the journals they sent us were leather, and it included a kit so we could press into the cover (which explained the mini hammer), magazines, and all the tools we needed to individualize them. Totally going to reuse for future craft projects too!

Not pictured are the magazines they also included.

Pro tip: Don't do this activity at night, my boyfriend had a mild panic attack about hammering the letters and waking up our neighbors haha.

This was such a cute and creative activity though - I loved thinking of something quirky to put on the front of the journal. Which will not be pictured, as what I chose is highly inappropriate, but the perfect moment of laughter for the two of us. And that was the beauty of this, being able to make something to laugh and enjoy together. We are still using writing prompts and putting stuff in them for each other as little notes of encouragement or affirmations each week. It was the kick start needed in wanting to continue to way find ways to express our feelings, like this for each other, throughout our life.

I also loved overall, being able to get creative with my partner. This is something we haven't done much of together, as we started our relationship during a pandemic. It definitely brought up some interesting conversations and us together in a new way, even with the little bit of anxiety involved. Taking moments to reflect that nothing goes perfectly in life, in relationships, or with anything really - but being able to appreciate those - is so important. Eventually we stopped worrying about what we were writing or creating, and just did it.

The 1st page of the journal I created with pieces of recycled magazine. I wanted to use things that reminded me of memories & how I feel about him.

After we put together the journals, and did a couple of the writing prompts listed in the subscription box, we then sat and talked about what we did for each others. Decided to read the passages aloud to one another and really just enjoyed the opportunity to have together (phones away was the rule, except for taking some photos of the goods after). And then finally we did a quick snapshot with the Lomo' Instant camera that we got in the bundle. We put in the book next to the challenge instructions, to have a little documented memory of the date to cherish forever. Which, I totally will.

Aren't we the actual cutest?!

As we continue through our journey in this box, we look forward to sharing our experience. We also hope to inspire some of you to take on the challenge yourselves.

Give yourself and your relationship an opportunity to be challenged in order to grow together. Take on new "adventures", even ones where you are still at home in your pajamas like this one. But doing them in a way that brings you closer than Netflix and pizza might ever be able to provide.

As always, if you ever want to know more about this product, please don't hesitate to reach out. This is something I am passionate about and want to share with others, so I am always happy to answer questions you have. If you are ready to take on the challenge, make sure you don't do it without using my code for a 10% discount: CALLMECOURT. We are all wanting to save a little money in these times - and thats why I am always honest and upfront with my readers on covering products I only truly feel are worth the money. Plus finding ways to save you money wherever I can.

Dear Body,

For those of you who already follow me on Instagram, you may have already taken a read of this letter to myself. But since this is bigger than just content, I wanted to share it here for anyone who may need it. *Trigger Warning* Body Image & ED Discussed

Dear Body,

I am sorry. I am sorry I didn’t understand before. I’m sorry for the way I’ve mistreated you in the past. I’m sorry for not loving you in every step of my journey. I promise to look at you without judgement. I promise to remember that media doesn’t dictate what I believe to be beautiful. I promise to remember the size of my waist has nothing to do with my worth.

I know in the past I have hurt you. I know that I have neglected you - when you were hungry or needed nourishment. I did these things because that is what the pressure of those around me or the world itself had placed into my mental being. They told me you weren’t enough, that you wouldn’t be enough unless I worked you into the ground, starved you, hated you until you became something else…

But none of that is real. I now work out more, because I love you, because I like the way it feels when I move my body. I treat you when you ask, because you and I deserve it. Of course you look different, you are not made from a cookie cutter, and the more the world accepts that, the better and stronger others can feel in their bodies too.

“You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” - Louise Hay

And just like that, look at how far we have come! Tummy line, I love it, I own it , because I have a tummy. Thigh juggles, I love them, I own them, because yes girl - I got thighhhhssssss, and they are sexy. Big arms, I love them, I own them, because I am stronger than I give myself credit for. I woke up a couple weeks ago and it finally all hit me like a sack of bricks, I needed to work on being in love with the person in the mirror who has been through so much.

Bodies are meant to change, and instead of clutching on to old jeans that are clearly no longer my size in the hopes that my body will once again fit into this number that literally means nothing at the end of the day…I TOSSED THEM. And I will continue to toss anything or anyone that doesn’t fit into my life. Harsh? No. I want to live happy in the time I have on this planet - so if someone doesn’t support that message, then I don’t need them to be apart of my dreams, goals, aspirations. etc. We are choosing to be obsessed with becoming a woman comfortable in her skin, and sharing that with the world for others to have the confidence to do the same. This is a MESSAGE, and we stan it.

Like my girl Lizzo said: “Boss up and change your life.” So, I did. And now look at me - THRIVINGGGG.

Thank you for loving me when I didn’t love you back. I am sorry for not recognizing your worth, your place of importance - you are home. You are an autobiography within my skin of a lifetime of memories and challenges conquered. You work hard to keep my alive. And for those things, I should treat you with the love and respect you deserve. Honor you. Cherish you. Nourish you. I will do better.

XO, Me

The year I fell in love with reading again...

You read that right, this is the year. First and foremost, welcome to my blog. This may seem like an unconventional intro - as many of you reading may not even know me yet...but not to worry that intro will come. But for now I want to talk about someone I USED TO BE.

I remember this woman that use to get a high on life, just from the smell of book pages alone. Yes, I am aware that sentiment is slightly odd - but I miss her. I miss the way she would divulge herself into stories & adventures, or benefit from the expansion of her mind while flurrying through the pages of a new or old read. She was a dreamer, a thinker, a doer.

**And this year, I am vowing to put my passions in place - make them apart of my everyday, and stop giving up on what I love just because life gets busy.**

No more of that sis, time to put pen to paper, paint to brush, etc, etc. Ergo, the blog of it all IS BACK BABYYY. I really am so proud of myself for making this leap again. To finally be at peace - in a relationship that brings me value and not harm, in a place that provides beauty not distaste, and in that life has proven itself capable to be what I want it to be. So what is holding me back from having my passions be apart of that? With dedication to them, maybe, just maybe I can do anything. Even the possibility of making my life my career, not my career as my life.

But onto those large notions later, for now, WE READ. And my goodness, am I sooooo excited for this 2021 book list I have put together! No, these will not be the only books I read, but these are what I am committing to and will share thoughts about (via Instagram @callmecourtxo). Please note the list below will be read in no particular order, and are all of different genres. From romance fiction, to environmental and social non fiction, horror, and so on. Please take a look at the list below, I have also provided the link to my wishlist for them - in case you would like to order yourself a copy and join me in a book club type discussion. Or feeling generous and want to pre order me any before their release date!

First up is my main boo, Jonathan Van Ness. I have been wanting to read this book for so long now! There is something so raw and so inspiring about their presence and story, and I am so moved by their words that I feel like this piece of writing is going to take me on the emotional roller coaster that I need. I want to feel at peace in my authentic, over the top self. So bring it JVN, I am readyyyyyyy queen!
